Western North Carolina has some of the most beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Here are some links to various sights that might be of interest to our guests:

Looking Glass Falls - Pisgah National Forest

Forest Heritage National Scenic Byway

Jumpoff Rock - Laurel Park - about 10 minutes from the B&B

Carl Sandburg Estate - Flat Rock, about 30 minutes from the B&B

Historic Johnson Farm

Pisgah National Park - North Mills River

And of course there is the Apple Festival.

Lots of fun for all!

I've arranged a hayride tour of one of the local apple orchards for our wedding guests.  The tour will be Saturday, August 30th at 11am at Stepp Orchards.  We'll depart from the B&B around 10:30am or so.  Our guests will be able to learn the history of the orchard and the many varieites of apples they produce.  Each guest will also be able to pick a 1/2 peck (5-6) apples to take home.  This is also a great photo opportunity.  Just a tip...the Ginger Gold apples are the best and they sell out fast.

Checkout the pictures we during during our trip to Hendersonville last summer.

As everyone knows Courtney and I have been engaged for quite some time before commiting on a wedding date.  I am pretty much to blame for this.  As we were getting ready for a trip to visit my sister in Raleigh the idea of having it in Hendersonville became more appealing to me.  This is where I spent my informative years, my roots are here, and I wanted the people that I cared about the most to experience this special event in a place where they could learn more about me at the same time.  Another reason that over time has become pretty important to me for going back to Hendersonville is so my Mom could attend the wedding.  She may not remember it five minutes after it's over, but I will and that's a memory I would like to have.  I know that all of our guests will fall in love with the small town charm that is Hendersonville, just like Courtney has.

We picked Labor Day weekend because it is the same weekend as the Annual NC Apple festival.  Western North Carolina is known for their apples.  As a kid I loved walking the orchards picking apples and all the events around festival.  The festival kicks off on our wedding day, but you will have plenty of time to enjoy the festivities on Saturday.  I am hoping to arrange for a hayride and apple picking at one of the orchards for all the guests.  Can you say, "Fried Apple Pie?"  That's the good, good stuff as Dayle would say.

Hendersonville is about thirty minutes to the largest private home and working farm in America, The Biltmore House.  The Biltmore House is located in nearby Asheville.  Courtney and I went for a visit about five years ago, it was truly amazing.  You can take a guided tour through the house, wine tasting in the estate winery, or hike through the tranquil woods on the estate.  It is an beautiful piece of our American history and an amazing way to spend a day.

I will be posting a page with all the travel details and such shortly.  And I promise the save the date cards are going out this week!
