Looks like there will be about 23 of us attending the wedding.  Nice and small.  For the most part everyone has booked their rooms.  If you have not booked your room please do so by June 25th.  After June 25th, the hotel will be opened up to other guests.

Prepartions are picking up steam around our house.  Groomsmen have their suits, and my wedding dress is still as beautiful as I remembered.  It's going to be hot and humid in Hendersonville so bring comfortable clothes.  We are planning an orchard tour on Saturday, August 30th, bring sneakers.

That's all for now.  Courtney and I can't wait to see everyone!

Hotel Accommodations:
We have made arrangements for our guests to stay at the awesome Inn on Church Street.  As a kid I spent many days with my friend playing on the porch of this house.  Our guests will pretty much be taking over the house!  Here is the information:

Rates:  $139 per night, August 27th through August 30th. Guests must book their rooms with Michelle Briggs at the hotel.  If you would like to stay through Sunday, August 31st, just let Michelle know and she will extend the rate.

Guests of the Inn on Church Street will enjoy a daily country breakfast, an innkeepers' late afternoon social, and fresh baked cookies. The Inn on Church Street Restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and casual dining and is a local Hendersonville favorite.

There are several other hotels in the area and in near by Asheville, but we strongly encourage everyone to stay at the inn because that's where the fun is!

Travel Arrangements:
There are several ways to get to Hendersonville.  Here are some suggestions:

Driving:  From Phoenix take I-10 East until you get to I-26, then head North.

Fly:  Audrey Paul from Azure Luxury Vacations, whom many of our guest will remember from Carrie and Matt's wedding, has graciously offered to assist our guests with their travel arrangements.

If you decide to make your own arrangements there are several airports you can choose from:
Raleigh, NC:  approx. six hours North of Hendersonville.  The drive is beautiful, but long.  Southwest Airlines at time has their $99 each way deal to Raleigh, but then you will need to rent a car.
Asheville, NC:  approx. thrity minutes from Hendersonville.  Ticket prices right now are hovering around $381 round trip.  If this is the route everyone is taking and everyone comes in roughly the same time I will look into airport pickup for everyone.

Car Rental:
There is metered and free street parking at the inn if you decide to get a rental car.  The church and festivities are all within walking distance.  We will be looking into renting two large passenger vans for trips to the orchards and/or The Biltmore House.  More details to follow.

Wedding Registry:
Coming soon

This page will be updated as the plans are coming together.  Stay tuned!

As everyone knows Courtney and I have been engaged for quite some time before commiting on a wedding date.  I am pretty much to blame for this.  As we were getting ready for a trip to visit my sister in Raleigh the idea of having it in Hendersonville became more appealing to me.  This is where I spent my informative years, my roots are here, and I wanted the people that I cared about the most to experience this special event in a place where they could learn more about me at the same time.  Another reason that over time has become pretty important to me for going back to Hendersonville is so my Mom could attend the wedding.  She may not remember it five minutes after it's over, but I will and that's a memory I would like to have.  I know that all of our guests will fall in love with the small town charm that is Hendersonville, just like Courtney has.

We picked Labor Day weekend because it is the same weekend as the Annual NC Apple festival.  Western North Carolina is known for their apples.  As a kid I loved walking the orchards picking apples and all the events around festival.  The festival kicks off on our wedding day, but you will have plenty of time to enjoy the festivities on Saturday.  I am hoping to arrange for a hayride and apple picking at one of the orchards for all the guests.  Can you say, "Fried Apple Pie?"  That's the good, good stuff as Dayle would say.

Hendersonville is about thirty minutes to the largest private home and working farm in America, The Biltmore House.  The Biltmore House is located in nearby Asheville.  Courtney and I went for a visit about five years ago, it was truly amazing.  You can take a guided tour through the house, wine tasting in the estate winery, or hike through the tranquil woods on the estate.  It is an beautiful piece of our American history and an amazing way to spend a day.

I will be posting a page with all the travel details and such shortly.  And I promise the save the date cards are going out this week!
